Description

A multinational food and beverage manufacturer is seeking a Safety Specialist to join their EHS team at their complex manufacturing facility in Harrisonburg, VA. Reporting to the Senior EHS Manager, the EHS Specialist will be responsible for assisting in the management of the site EHS programs and will drive EHS performance at the plant level. 

The Role:

• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and corporate standards
• Assist in oversite of Safety programs such as ergonomics, BBS, and LOTO
• Build relationships with operations leaders and employees to continually develop the safety culture
• Investigate any incidents, determine root cause and implement corrective actions
• Participate in EHS audits, assessments, and employee training; collect/analyze EHS performance metrics and drive continuous improvement

The candidate:

• B.S. in Safety Sciences, Safety Management, Engineering, or relevant field preferred
• 2+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing setting
• Working knowledge of local and federal Environmental and Safety regulations
• Excellent communication and influencing skills, able to interact with employees at all levels and lead trainings where necessary
• Eagerness to learn, develop and advance as an EHS professional
