A world-renowned University is seeking a Senior Biosafety Officer to lead all aspects of its biosafety program, as well as develop new policies and procedures across their BSL3 laboratories. The Senior Biosafety Officer will be working as part of the broader EHS team and will share responsibility for the biological safety program with a number of highly-talented individuals that are passionate about integrating world class processes and systems across the organization.

The role:

• Developing and implementing biosafety training to researchers of all levels
• Building strong relationships with researchers and PIs to ensure safe work practices
• Managing the risk assessment process and assisting with addressing corrective actions identified during laboratory inspections
• Directing the response and investigation of accidents or exposures involving biohazardous agents, coordinating with all regulatory agencies as required

The candidate:

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a BL3 laboratories 
• Bachelor's Degree in EHS, IH, lab safety, microbiology, molecular biology, biology or related discipline (Advanced Degree preferred)
• Professional certification strongly preferred (Certified Biological Safety Professional, Registered Biosafety Professional)
• Ability to communicate complex technical issues to diverse clients
• Ability to build and maintain strong collaborative and professional relationships with EH&S staff, Principal Investigators, researchers and clients
