Despite all odds, Shirley Parsons' Executive Search team appointed a new Vice President of Safety after a thorough search process.
The Challenge
A $4bn revenue, private equity backed, 10,000-employee utilities contractor approached Shirley Parsons to lead an executive search for a newly created Vice President of Safety position. The organization was in the early stages of a targeted acquisition campaign and required a candidate who possessed experience of integrating the EHS programs of acquired companies into a larger corporation.
Our Approach
We carried out a detailed executive search process, carefully screening over 50 EHS executives from the utilities and infrastructure sector, with a particular focus on their experience and approach to M&A. A final shortlist of 7 candidates was presented to our client, all of whom were interviewed multiple times before a hiring decision was made, 10 weeks on from our initial briefing.
The Result
Over the next 2 years, this candidate helped guide the organization through 3 high-profile acquisitions, adding over 3 million man-hours of annual work to their H&S footprint. Despite this rapid growth, the safety culture and performance have continued to improve under this candidate's leadership, with a 22% reduction in recordable injury rate and a 33% loss-time injury rate reduction achieved companywide.
